The form is an elongated oval boat on a low foot ring, lifted at one end into a sculpted gable of acanthus and rocaille. Fine, even crazing covers the piece and has drawn a warm tea colour into the glaze, strongest underneath where two darker lines cross in the glaze itself, and there are no chips or losses anywhere along the rim.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA ravier is the small oval dish that stood along the length of a laid table, one of several set out at once.
