The top line has faded past reading, but the piece is German, from a workshop in Trier in the Rhineland — found just over the border in Sarreguemines, in French Lorraine, where German and French country goods have crossed for generations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInside, a red-and-white polka dot oilcloth is glued to the base.
