Shipping policy

Orders are packed within one to two business days. Once your order is on its way you will receive a confirmation with a tracking number.

How shipping is worked out

Shipping is calculated at checkout, from the size and weight of everything in your basket together. You see the exact amount before you pay, and nothing is added afterwards.

Old things come in awkward shapes, and a single plate needs a very different box from a lidded tureen. Pieces that travel well together are charged as one parcel rather than one fee each — so adding a second small piece to your order usually costs very little more in shipping. When you buy several pieces they are often sent in more than one box, but as long as they travel in the same shipment the rate stays lower. It is one of the reasons I like Open Box — more on that below.

Age also makes things fragile in ways that size does not predict. A small, light piece with a thin rim or a fine handle often needs more protection, and therefore a larger box, than something twice its size and half its age. That is why the shipping on a little thing is sometimes higher than you would expect — it is the protecting, not the weight.

Open Box — keep collecting, pay shipping once

If you think you might come back for something else, choose Open Box at checkout instead of Standard. Your pieces are set aside here for up to thirty days while you add to them, and when you are ready everything travels home together in one shipment — so you pay the shipping once rather than each time.

I will write to you when your box is ready to send, and again before the thirty days are up. Open Box works on Instagram as well as here in the shop, so you can buy in both places and collect it all in the same box. If you are buying through Instagram, simply tell me in a DM or by email and I will do the same.

Customs and duties

United States/ Canada — all prices include import duties and tariffs. Orders are sent DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). The duty is calculated, declared and paid before your parcel leaves here, which means there is nothing further to pay when it arrives (unless the US Government add an extra cost outside the shipping) — no invoice from the courier, no fee at the door, and no customs paperwork for you to complete.

US prices are shown in dollars and already carry the duty. Prices shown in euros are for the rest of the world and do not include import charges, so the two figures are not meant to match.

European Union — I ship from Sweden, which is inside the EU, so there is no customs procedure and nothing to pay on arrival.

All other destinations — prices do not include import duties. Any charges your country applies to antiques and vintage goods are collected by the courier before delivery, and are set by your customs authority rather than by me.

Delivery times

Parcels leave within one to two business days. From Sweden, allow roughly one to two weeks to the United States and Canada, and three to seven days within Europe and the UK. Swedish orders usually arrive within a few days. You will have a tracking number as soon as the label is made.

If you have chosen Open Box, or if your order needed a separate shipping invoice, your parcel leaves one to two business days after that invoice is paid.

How your parcel is packed

Everything is packed by hand, as safely as I know how. Fragile pieces are wrapped individually and cushioned on every side, and I would rather use a bigger box than take a chance.

I also try to keep the footprint of all this as small as I can. Most of what your parcel is made of has already had a life: boxes and padding that arrived here with something else, and materials passed on to me by other businesses, used again instead of thrown away. Any plastic in your parcel is material that was already out in the world — I recycle it from shipments I receive rather than buy it new. When I do have to buy packaging, it is paper rather than plastic.

So your parcel may not look uniform, and the tape may not match. That is deliberate.

If something arrives damaged

Accidents happen, even to a carefully packed box. If your parcel arrives damaged, please contact me straight away — and send pictures of the packaging as well as the piece. The pictures of the box matter, because I usually have to make a claim with the shipping company and they will ask for them.

A note on condition

Everything here is timeworn, vintage or antique, and will show signs of use and age. Any notable imperfections are photographed and described — please look closely at the pictures, or write to me for more detail before you buy. Each piece is the only one, and all sales are final.
