A small antique French copper wall shelf, made to hang in a kitchen and keep a few things within reach. The copper has aged to a warm layered patina, and the piece is sound and solid throughout.
Copper was the working metal of the French kitchen, and beyond the pans came fitted pieces made for the wall rather than the stove, worked in the same metal so that a kitchen read as one.
It hangs beautifully in a kitchen or a hallway, holding brushes, a candle or a few small things, and it catches lamplight the way only old copper does.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
