The Rose Canister Set

A set of three graduated French majolica canisters with lids, moulded in relief with a pink rose on a soft sage-green ground and brushed brown shoulders. The fronts read Farine, Café and Pâtes in black Gothic script, and each lid is topped with a little rose-bud finial.

Maker: unmarked (mould number to the base), France.
Era: vintage, mid-20th century.
Material: glazed majolica / faience with relief decoration and a fine all-over crazed glaze.
Condition: very good — no chips; all three lids present; even crazing consistent with age.

Measurements (height incl. lid): 12 / 15 / 18 cm — 4.7 / 5.9 / 7.1 in. Footprint: 7×7, 8×8, 10×10 cm — approx. 2.75 / 3.15 / 3.9 in.
