The Allmoge Trough

An antique Swedish dough trough, hand-carved from a single piece of wood, with the warm honey patina of long use. Raised handles at each end, a gently hollowed well, and the soft tool marks of the maker still visible inside. Allmoge / folkart, sourced in Sweden.

Origin: Sweden. Maker: unsigned.
Material: solid carved wood.
Era: antique, likely 19th to early 20th century.
Condition: very good for its age — sound, with original patina, even wear and small age cracks and marks consistent with use (character, not damage).
Measurements: length 50 cm / 19.7 in, width 21 cm / 8.3 in, height 10 cm / 3.9 in.

Once used for kneading and proving bread; now lovely as a fruit bowl, a gathered centrepiece, or a quiet sculptural piece on the table.
