The Brass Pastry Jaggers
The Brass Pastry Jaggers
PRICE IS PER PASTRY JAGGER. CHOOSE A, B OR C — EACH LETTER IS MARKED ON THE PHOTOS.
Three antique European pastry jaggers in cast and hand-filed brass, nineteenth century. Each has a toothed wheel riveted into a fork at one end, still turning freely, and a crimping tip at the other. A is the largest, with a three-spoke wheel and a warm golden patina; B is a touch smaller and deeper bronze in tone; C is the smallest and darkest, its little wheel pierced with two holes. All three carry the soft wear of long handling, with darker traces settled between the teeth.
Before tart tins and cutters were commonplace, a jagger was how the edge of a pie or pastry was trimmed and decorated — often a treasured tool, handed down through a household.
A small collector's piece for a cabinet of curiosities or a shelf of old kitchen brass.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
A: approx. 6¼" long · B: approx. 5⅞" long · C: approx. 4⅜" long
A: approx. 16cm long · B: approx. 15cm long · C: approx. 11cm long
