The Hammered Pedestal Bowl – GAB Stockholm

Antique Swedish silver plate pedestal bowl by GAB, Stockholm, in hammered Arts & Crafts style with applied acanthus ornament, ca 1900–1920.

Guldsmedsaktiebolaget — GAB — was Sweden's most prestigious silversmith house, founded in 1867. This generous centerpiece bowl is covered in a dense planished texture: thousands of deliberate hammer marks across bowl and foot that shift with the light. At the collar where bowl meets foot, three applied acanthus scroll ornaments alternate with rosette medallions — a refined detail on an otherwise austere form. The deep patina and darkened hammer marks give it a presence that polished silver rarely achieves. A piece made to be used and admired.

Condition: Good antique condition. Oxidation to rim, some wear to interior silver plate consistent with age. Exterior patina throughout. No dents or repairs.
