The Edwardian Cream & Sugar Set – Mackay & Chisholm
Antique Scottish silver plate cream and sugar set by Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh, silver soldered, Edwardian ca 1900–1920.
Mackay & Chisholm, established on Edinburgh's Princes Street in 1835, were among Scotland's most respected silversmiths, their work found in British museum collections today. Pattern 9381, marked SILVER SOLDERED — meaning joins and handles were bonded with silver-based solder, a quality distinction above standard production. The balloon body, beaded borders, and scrolled handles with a gentle Rococo curve are characteristic of the late Victorian to Edwardian period. Well polished and well preserved, with a quiet, assured presence.
