The Baroque Revival Coffee Pot – MGAB
Old Swedish alpacca coffee pot by MGAB, Malmö, in Baroque revival lobed form with horn rings, ca 1925–1940.
Made by Malmö Guldsmedsaktiebolaget in alpacca — a nickel-silver alloy with an inherent silver lustre that, unlike silver plate, cannot wear away. The multi-lobed body draws on the Baroque silver tradition of 17th-century Sweden, reinterpreted with the restraint of the interwar period. The hinged lid echoes the lobes exactly; the straight angular handle is fitted with two horn rings that insulate the hand from the heat, a quiet mark of quality craftsmanship. Marked MGAB + ALP. In excellent condition throughout.
Condition: Excellent condition. Clean alpacca lustre, all lobes crisp and well-defined. Hinged lid fully functional. Horn rings intact.
Measures: H 20 × W 24 cm (7.9 × 9.4 inch)
