The Honey-Glazed Flagon
A vintage stoneware flagon, likely from the first half of the twentieth century, dressed in a glossy honey-brown glaze that deepens to amber where it pools. It has a gently swelling body, a ringed neck and a neat loop handle, and stands on a pale unglazed foot softened by years on the shelf.
Small flagons like this were once the everyday containers of the country store and the farmhouse pantry across Europe.
It makes a lovely bud vase for a single branch or a few dried grasses on a windowsill or open shelf.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
