A vintage French baking set from the mid twentieth century: two deep fluted brioche moulds in tinned steel, each with a beaded ring and a finely embossed base, together with three graduated fluted pastry cutters. The tin has softened to a mellow pewter grey, warming to gold inside the smaller mould, with the gentle marks of years in a French kitchen.
Brioche moulds like these were a fixture of every French pâtisserie and home kitchen, their flared fluting as recognisable as the loaf itself.
Stacked on an open shelf, hung on a kitchen wall or arranged in a still life, they bring an easy French country note to any room.
