SKU — TB101

An antique English blue transferware covered vegetable dish, dating from circa 1830 to 1870, complete with its original lid. A recumbent lion sits on the domed cover, and a single pastoral scene runs unbroken across both halves — palms, a pagoda at the water's edge, figures in a boat. The blue is the soft dove tone of Staffordshire printing before flow blue arrived, and a fine overall crazing carries warm tea staining that gives the piece the timeworn character of genuine antique kitchenware. Unmarked, as much household earthenware of the period was, with glaze wear to the lid rim and foot.

Lids are almost always the first thing to be lost, and a complete example is considerably scarcer than the base alone.

Beautifully placed on a dresser or a gathered table, where its faded blue pairs with white ironstone and plain linen.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
Approx. overall 6¼" high x 9¾" wide x 8¾" deep
Approx. overall 16cm high x 25cm wide x 22cm deep
