Found at a market in Amiens, this footed compotier carries Paris on both sides: Le Grand Palais and the Pont Alexandre III in the bowl, Le Louvre underneath. It was made by the Faïencerie de Clairefontaine in Haute-Saône around 1900–1913, part of their Monuments de Paris series in dark green transferware on terre de fer — the Grand Palais itself was built for the 1900 World’s Fair.

The cream glaze shows fine all-over crazing and there are two very fine hairlines, one barely going through; the prints are crisp and the piece sits stable. Lovely as a fruit bowl, a small cake stand, or on its own.

Measurements: H 9.5 cm × Ø 22 cm (H 3.7 in × Ø 8.7 in)
