An antique Swedish ravier in the Anna pattern, printed in teal transfer on cream earthenware and marked ANNA ORIGINAL beneath the triangle mark of Aktiebolaget Göteborgs Porslinsfabrik, c.1906. The form is an elongated oval boat on a low foot ring, lifted at one end into a sculpted gable of acanthus and rocaille. Fine, even crazing covers the piece and has drawn a warm tea colour into the glaze, strongest underneath where two darker lines cross in the glaze itself, and there are no chips or losses anywhere along the rim.

A ravier is the small oval dish that stood along the length of a laid table, one of several set out at once. The form is French; the factory was in Gothenburg, and that combination is most of its charm.

Small enough to live on a hall chest or a dressing table, holding keys, rings and seals, and shallow enough to lean against a wall on a shelf so the gable shows.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
Approx. overall 8.7" long x 5.1" wide x 2.4" high
Approx. overall 22cm long x 13cm wide x 6cm high
