The Flore Compotier
The Flore Compotier
Found at a market in Amiens, northern France.
A footed compotier from Utzschneider & Cie in Sarreguemines, in the Flore pattern — light blue botanical bouquets with an ivy-leaf border on terre de fer, made around 1875–1900. The scalloped rim and pierced scroll handles are traced in blue acanthus leaves, and the glaze carries a deep, allover tea staining with fine crazing, while the print itself remains crisp.
Condition: pronounced staining and crazing throughout — the patina is the point here — plus one tiny old chip on the underside of one handle. No cracks or repairs.
Measurements: CM: H 13 × W 30 (handle to handle) × D 25 — INCH: H 5.1 × W 11.8 × D 9.8
