A footed café au lait bowl from Sarreguemines, the renowned faience maker of Lorraine, decorated in brown transferware with a hand-painted rose at its centre. An Aesthetic-period border of fine chains and scrollwork frames the floral cartouche, the rose and soft green leaves coloured by hand over the printed design.

Marked "Opaque de Sarreguemines" beneath a crowned shield, the bowl dates to the closing decades of the 1800s, when pieces like this held morning coffee with warm milk. The creamy terre de fer carries an even, all-over crazing and a gentle warm staining, and the gilded rim has softened with use. No chips or cracks — a genuine antique with quiet, lived-in character.

Measurements: H 6.5 cm × Ø 11 cm (H 2.56" × Ø 4.33").

Lovely for café au lait or a morning latte, or set out with berries on a gathered table.

All items are antique or vintage and may show small signs of age and use — part of their authenticity and charm. Please review the photos closely, or contact me for more details. Each piece is carefully wrapped and sent with tracked shipping.
