The Oriental Saucière
The Oriental Saucière
An antique French sauce boat from the Faïencerie de Badonviller in Lorraine, stamped with its pattern name, Oriental — a grey-blue border of palmettes along a scalloped, beaded rim, with a pouring lip at each end and a lozenge-shaped underplate fixed to the boat. Made around 1900–1925.
The cream glaze carries an even crazing with warm, tea-coloured staining — a century of use, worn softly. No cracks or hairlines; two small chips under the foot ring, invisible in use.
