The Rose Saladier
Found at a market in Amiens, northern France. A deep terre de fer serving bowl from around the turn of the last century, transfer-printed with grey-blue roses and a dense floral border along the rim.
The glaze has crazed evenly over the decades and taken on a soft grey-blue patina — the quiet character that made this one worth carrying home. The underside bears a deep-impressed “JF”, likely a workshop mark; the maker remains unidentified. No chips or cracks found, just the patina of age.
Measurements: 26.5 cm diameter × 4.5 cm high (10.4 × 1.8 in).
