The Sarreguemines Saucière
The Sarreguemines Saucière
Found at a market in Amiens, northern France. An antique sauce boat with its scalloped underplate attached, made by Utzschneider & Cie in Sarreguemines, Lorraine — the base carries the printed China Sarreguemines crest, a mark used between roughly 1875 and 1900.
All white, with molded rococo handles and a soft all-over crazing that has mellowed into a warm patina. A few fine hairlines and an older chip to the rim of the underplate, shown in the photos; no repairs.
Measurements: H 10.5 × W 17 × L 27 cm (H 4.1 × W 6.7 × L 10.6 in)
